Things To Do This February Half-Term

The February break is upon us, and for many, finding ways to keep the kids entertained can be a challenge. Especially while the weather outside remains wintry and wet. To make things easier, we’ve compiled a list of things to do in Greater Manchester and the North-West this half-term that’ll keep the kids from climbing the walls!

1. Roll Up, Roll Up to Gandey’s Circus

Big Top, Aintree Racecourse | until Sun 03 March, 2019

Gandey’s Circus returns in 2019 with The Greatest Show Tour! There’ll be thrills-a-plenty from the world class Havana troupe, featuring near-impossible acrobatics, amazing aerialists, and the electrifying, adrenaline-fueled excitement of the African Warriors. The show takes place in the fully-heated, 1,000 seat Big Top tent, equipped with theatre-standard lighting and sound.

2. Catch David Walliams’ Billionaire Boy

The Lowry, Salford | until Sunday 17 Feb 2019

A hilarious new musical from the NST team (Fantastic Mr Fox) based on David Walliams’ bestselling book. Billionaire Boy tells the story of Joe Spud, who becomes an overnight billionaire after his dad invents a new loo roll (“wet on one side, dry on the other”), but whilst Mr Spud spends, spends, spends on fast cars and lavish gifts for his glamorous new girlfriend, Joe is left to fend for himself.

3. Hop Aboard the Wizard Academy Express

East Lancashire Railway, Bury | Thu 21 Feb 2019

Most schools may be closed for half-term, but it’s business as usual at the Grand Old School of Wizardry, so grab a broomstick, ready your wand, and board the train! You’ll be joined by a full faculty of wacky warlocks (and some sinister sorcerers) on this family-friendly adventure.

4. Take Your Toddlers to See a Show at The Lowry

There’s plenty to keep the little ones entertained at The Lowry this February half-term. Join The Twirlywoos for a theatrical adventure, with beautifully inventive puppetry and a cast of TV favourites, or celebrate individuality and the power of laughter with Elmer the Patchwork Elephant, based on the classic children’s book series by David McKee.

5. Take a trip to Wonderland

Bolton Albert Halls

Wed 20 – Sun 24 Feb 2019

Don’t be late for this very important date! The Albert Halls, Bolton presents a magical, musical version of Alice in Wonderland. Join the Mad Hatter for an unforgettable tea party, meet the Cheshire Cat, and help Alice ensure it’s not “off with her head!” as she finds herself face-to-face with The Queen of Hearts.
